A Hotspot for Precious Metals and Jewelry in Daegu Dongseong-ro Special Zone... Jewelry Department Store 'Jema' Opens
The precious metals street in Jung-gu, Daegu has put the finishing touch. A large jewelry department store, 'Jema,' has newly opened in the Dongsung-ro Jewelry Special Zone.
On the 28th of last month, about 150 people, including Ryu Gyu-ha, the head of Jung-gu Office, and the president of the Jewelry Special Zone Merchants Association, attended the opening ceremony and donated 2 million won to the Jung-gu Office for neighborly aid.
Jema, with an area of 1175㎡, is located at the center of Jung-gu's precious metals street, the only jewelry special zone designated nationwide.
K-jewelry is gaining global popularity as it is worn by K-POP stars, who are the main drivers of global popularity, as well as celebrities, attracting many tourists from China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Recently, as men's desire for grooming has increased, men's jewelry has also maintained steady popularity.
Daegu City is implementing measures such as the 'Dongsung-ro Renaissance Project' and the 'Designation of Dongsung-ro as a Tourist Special Zone' to revitalize the declining Dongsung-ro commercial district due to the impact of COVID-19 and economic recession, aiming to restore the street's former glory.
Earlier last month, President Yoon Seok-yeol also attended the 'Livelihood Discussion' held in Daegu and expressed his active support for the designation of Dongsung-ro as a tourist special zone.
