Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu district officials have come together to discover differentiated innovative policies unique to Seo-gu.

On the 28th, Seo-gu of Gwangju Metropolitan City held the inauguration ceremony of the Seo-gu Public Officials' Innovative Policy Development Research Group at Deulbul Hall, where they presented and shared the activity directions and research topics of each group.

This research group project aims to discover diverse and creative ideas through the voluntary participation of public officials and promote them as innovative policies to foster the development of district administration.

In February, Seo-gu selected six research groups through an open recruitment process, each focusing on innovative ideas in various fields: ▲ Establishing the first carbon-neutral event guideline for local governments, ‘Carbon Lock & Lock (樂)’ ▲ Introducing the Seo-gu style unmanned clean house, ‘LEGO RECO’ ▲ Resident-oriented pet policies, ‘Animalgu’ ▲ Policy improvement and public-private cooperation measures to prevent solitary deaths, ‘Together We Go’ ▲ Library BI-linked policies and specialization plans, ‘Accidental Librarian’ ▲ Activation plans for dementia-safe village operations, ‘No Dementia’.

These groups will conduct research activities such as data collection and analysis of other local governments’ cases through monthly regular meetings until September. They will also strive to discover practical policies applicable to district administration by participating in benchmarking visits to advanced sites and consulting with internal and external experts.

Seo-gu will support the research groups by providing mid-term consulting on research topics and reference books, and plans to select the best research group at the end and provide incentives.

Kim Ikang, the head of Seo-gu Office, said, “The innovative and creative ideas of the employees who know the district administration better than anyone else will be the driving force to change the lives of Seo-gu residents,” adding, “We will spare no support to discover effective policies that residents can feel.”
