Naver Delays Applying 'Correction Request Pending' Notice Until After General Election
Naver is reconsidering its policy to display the phrase "Correction Request in Progress" on articles for which correction requests have been filed.
According to industry sources on the 28th, Naver had planned to launch a web page on the same day where users who have suffered rights violations such as defamation can apply online for corrections, rebuttals, or follow-up reports, but it has decided to reconsider the timing until after the general election.
Earlier, on the 15th, Naver announced plans to establish a correction report page and to display the phrase "Correction Request in Progress" in news search results.
In response, the Korea Newspaper Association urged withdrawal, stating that "this could stigmatize reporters as potential perpetrators or villains and block critical or investigative reporting." There were also concerns that interested parties might abuse the online request system.

Meanwhile, currently, to request a correction report on Naver, one must apply via written document or registered mail, and this process will remain in place for the time being.
