"Yoon's Actions Against the People Are Rebellion," Lee Jun-seok Meets with Colonel Park Jeong-hoon on 'Rebellion Charges'
Colonel Park Jeong-hoon Attends 3rd Trial at Central Military Court
Meets Reform New Party Leader Lee Jun-seok Before Trial
Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform New Party, criticized on the 21st after meeting with Park Jeong-hoon, former Marine Corps Investigation Unit Commander (Colonel), who was indicted on charges including insubordination during the investigation of the death of Marine Corporal Chae, saying, "The insubordination is being committed by the president against the people."
On the same day, Lee met Colonel Park, who appeared at the 3rd trial held at the Central Military Court in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in the morning. Colonel Park was in charge of the initial investigation of the case where Corporal Chae died in the line of duty while searching for missing persons during the heavy rains last summer. However, he is on trial after being indicted for insubordination and defamation of a superior officer for allegedly disobeying the order from then Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-seop (currently Ambassador to Australia) not to transfer the investigation records to the police.
Former Investigation Team Leader Park Jeong-hoon (Colonel), who was indicted for insubordination and defamation of a superior in connection with the investigation transfer of the Marine Corps Corporal Chae's death in the line of duty, is holding a press conference with Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform New Party, and Marine Corps veterans in front of the Central Regional Military Court in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, where the third trial is taking place on the morning of the 21st.

Regarding Ambassador Lee's return to the country on the same day, Lee Jun-seok said, "Many people are disappointed by Ambassador Lee's escape act," and claimed, "The fact that he is coming to the (scheduled) heads of mission meeting on the 25th itself is evidence that there is no urgent reason to leave the country." He continued, "Ambassador Lee's return is obviously a very political act timed to the general election schedule," adding, "President Yoon is acting arrogantly in an illusion that the ruling party's approval rating is temporarily recovering after several misgovernances, but he is shrinking just before the general election."

He also questioned, "Should the person who must be held accountable and tried escape through the VIP lounge at the airport, while the person who should work hard to clear Corporal Chae's grievances must enter through the narrow entrance of the military court and face trial?" Regarding Ambassador Lee's whereabouts, Lee said, "The case of Ambassador Lee is already being reported in the Australian media, and above all, there is doubt whether he can perform his duties as ambassador normally," and demanded, "He needs to make a decision himself, and if the decision is delayed, President Yoon, who holds the personnel authority, must make a decisive judgment."

He added, "(Democratic Party) Leader Lee Jae-myung is also criticized for not being able to properly manage party affairs due to being under investigation and trial, so if a major country's ambassador has to frequently return home because of investigation and trial, it is disrespectful to the counterpart country."
