Ahead of May Introduction of 'The Gyeonggi Pass', Team Leaders Meeting of 31 Cities and Counties
On the 20th, Gyeonggi Province held a meeting for team leaders from 31 cities and counties at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office regarding 'The Gyeonggi Pass,' which is set to be implemented in May.
Announced by Gyeonggi Province last October, 'The Gyeonggi Pass' is a project based on the K-Pass initiative promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Metropolitan Area Transport Committee. It reimburses a portion of monthly public transportation costs (30% for people in their 20s and 30s, 20% for those aged 40 and above, and 53% for low-income groups).

Unlike Seoul’s Climate Companion Card, which excludes GTX, metropolitan buses, and the Shinbundang Line, The Gyeonggi Pass plans to include all public transportation nationwide, offering greater benefits especially to Gyeonggi residents who primarily use GTX, metropolitan buses, and the Shinbundang Line, which are scheduled to open on March 30, 2024.
For elementary, middle, and high school students (children and youth aged 6 to 18) who cannot use The Gyeonggi Pass, the existing 'Youth Transportation Expense Support Project' has been revamped to provide transportation cost support up to 240,000 KRW annually. The support targets have also been expanded to include Gyeonggi and Seoul buses, subways, and shared bicycles.

Kim Sang-su, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Transportation Bureau, stated, "The Gyeonggi Pass is a far superior transportation cost policy in terms of benefits to residents, as it allows all residents to receive transportation cost support when using any transportation means anywhere nationwide." He added, "We plan to launch intensive promotions starting in April in line with the launch of The Gyeonggi Pass project on May 1."
