Asiana Passes Chinese Personal Data Protection Review... First Domestic Airline to Do So
Asiana Airlines has become the first domestic airline to pass China's personal information protection review.
Asiana Airlines announced on the 18th that it passed the China Personal Information Protection Law safety assessment certification earlier this month. Through this, it was officially recognized that the company legally collects and safely manages and operates customer and employee data across 65 items in 12 major systems used in the China region.
Previously, the Chinese government established the "Data Cross-Border Transfer Security Assessment Method" regulation in July 2022 to strengthen information protection regulations. This mandates a separate certification process to safely transfer and manage personal information collected within China to regions outside of China.
