Lee Young-hee, head of Global Marketing at Samsung Electronics and the company's first female president, emphasized on the 8th, 'International Women's Day,' that "although the environment and conditions vary depending on region, culture, and generation, one should not lose their 'Be Yourself' spirit and must believe in their own potential."

View original imageIn an internal interview conducted by Samsung Electronics Newsroom to mark 'International Women's Day,' Lee advised, "If you take one step at a time, being true to yourself in pursuing what you want?not anyone else’s desires?I believe this will ultimately lead to meaningful progress not only for the individual but also for society."
Lee stated, "Diversity is the driving force for sustainable growth in a global company," and emphasized, "Samsung Electronics aims for Innovation for All." She continued, "As a global company, our brand philosophy embodies the commitment to contribute to solving customers’ problems and enabling a better life regardless of region, race, or gender anywhere in the world," adding, "We strive to sincerely share these brand values with our customers and to instill them throughout our entire organization."
She urged employees, "Let us establish a culture where differences are acknowledged, colleagues’ opinions are listened to, and discussions are encouraged so that everyone can fully demonstrate their capabilities based on individual diversity."
Lee Young-hee is a marketing expert who joined Samsung Electronics in 2007 after working at Unilever Korea, SC Johnson Korea, and L'Or?al Korea. At Samsung Electronics, she served as head of the Marketing Team in the Wireless Business Division’s Strategic Marketing Office and as head of the Global Marketing Center, contributing to enhancing the 'Samsung brand value.' At the end of 2022, she was promoted to president, becoming the first female president not from the Samsung owner family. She was also the only Korean named in Forbes’ 'Most Influential Women in Asia 2023.'
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is holding various events related to this year’s slogan, 'Promoting Inclusion,' in celebration of 'International Women's Day.' In the Device Experience (DX) division, a photo campaign featuring the official Women’s Day pose (hand heart) was held, and over 700 employees participated in an event expressing gratitude and support to female colleagues and family members. The DX division also held a workshop for female executives to discuss ways to foster female leaders, and for the first time this year, mentoring was introduced for female developers.

The Device Solutions (DS) division has been conducting 'Empathy Month' activities since this month to build consensus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and CEO, stated, "We will do our best to ensure that all employees, including women, can fully demonstrate their capabilities and talents to achieve personal and company growth."
