"March is the Month for Travel" Government to Distribute 110,000 Accommodation Discount Vouchers
From the 27th, one ticket per person daily at 10 AM
"Limited to non-capital areas to revitalize local tourism"
The government is distributing 110,000 accommodation discount vouchers to celebrate the "Travel Month (March)." The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 20th that starting from the 27th, one voucher per person will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis at 10 a.m. daily through 40 channels involving 46 online travel agencies.
Kim Geun-ho, Director of Tourism Industry Policy at the Ministry, stated, "We will caution participating companies to prevent side effects from accommodation price increases and take measures such as withholding subsidies if excessive price hikes occur. We hope that citizens can enjoy travel without burden and that domestic demand will be revitalized."
When using the accommodation discount voucher, a 30,000 KRW discount is applied for bookings of accommodation products exceeding 50,000 KRW (check-in from the 27th to April 14th). Eligible accommodations include hotels, condos, resorts, pensions, and rural homestays within Korea. Unregistered accommodations and short-term rentals are not eligible. A Ministry official explained, "In line with the purpose of revitalizing regional tourism, support is limited to accommodations in non-metropolitan areas (excluding Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon)."
The voucher is valid until 7 a.m. the day after issuance and will automatically expire afterward. Unused vouchers can be reissued starting at 10 a.m. the following day. The Ministry official added, "Those who used accommodation discount vouchers during the Lunar New Year holiday can also receive new vouchers and use them. Additional accommodation discount vouchers will be distributed during the 'Travel Month' in June as well."
