Kakao Entertainment's North American Platform Tapas Selects 15 Winning Works in Web Novel Contest
Kakao Entertainment's North American webtoon and web novel platform Tapas held a romance web novel contest and announced 15 winning works.
According to Kakao Entertainment on the 16th, the 'True Love on Tapas' contest was held for about two months starting last October, and out of a total of 264 submissions, 15 works were selected as winners. The winning works include 'Cheolhyeol Sinbu' (Iron Blood Bride) and 'Heukmabeopsaui Yegich Otteun Sohwan' (Summoned: Familiar of the Dark Magician).
Each winning work will receive a serialization contract fee of $10,000 (approximately 10 million KRW), totaling about $150,000 in prize money. After official serialization on Tapas, the completeness of the story and popularity will be thoroughly reviewed, and there are plans to consider the possibility of serialization on Tapas as well as on Kakao Page's Novel Comics in Korea.
Kakao Entertainment aims to strengthen its entry into the web novel market as one of its major strategies in North America this year. To this end, since September last year, it has been actively expanding its web novel business on Tapas following its webtoon business.

A representative from Tapas Entertainment, which operates Tapas, said, "We hope this contest will provide an opportunity for North American creators to experience web novels, which have established themselves as a successful content genre in Korea."
