Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Promotes Electric Vehicle Fire Prevention Guidelines
On the 7th, the Seobu Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City urged compliance with winter electric vehicle fire prevention rules.
Unlike internal combustion engine vehicles, electric vehicles exhibit a phenomenon called ‘thermal runaway’ during fires, where the battery temperature rapidly soars to high levels.
As the temperature rises sharply, heat is transferred to surrounding batteries, causing the fire to spread rapidly in a chain reaction, potentially leading to a large-scale fire.
The electric vehicle fire prevention rules include ▲ following emergency response procedures in case of an electric vehicle accident ▲ no smoking near charging stations ▲ caution with moisture during vehicle charging ▲ knowing emergency response procedures in case of fire during charging ▲ equipping a vehicle fire extinguisher (one extinguisher per vehicle is mandatory).
