On January 31 and February 1 at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei
British pianist Paul Lewis will present the final stage of his Schubert piano sonata recital series, which has been ongoing since 2022.
On the 31st of this month and February 1st, Paul Lewis will hold solo recitals at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei, the Kumho Cultural Foundation announced on the 17th.
This is the last stage of the Schubert recital series that Paul Lewis has continued since 2022. In the previous two performances, he played 6 out of the 21 Schubert piano sonatas.
On January 31st, he will perform Schubert's Piano Sonatas No. 4, No. 9, and No. 18 "Fantasia," and on February 1st, he will perform Nos. 19, 20, and 21.
Sonatas Nos. 19 to 21, performed on February 1st, are works Schubert composed in the last year of his life. Paul Lewis explains that these three pieces are closely connected as one continuous journey.
Paul Lewis, representing the UK, is also known as a prot?g? of the great Alfred Brendel. Rather than pursuing a broad repertoire, he is recognized as a Schubert specialist who meticulously and earnestly delves into the works and life of a specific composer.
