Hyundai Motor SDV Acquires Samsung Semiconductor... FortyTwoDot and Samsung Join Forces
Strengthening Collaboration for AI-Based SDV Platform Development
Hyundai Motor Group's global software center, FortyTwoDot, will equip Samsung Electronics' automotive semiconductor chips in the SDV (Software-Defined Vehicle) platform scheduled for release in 2025.
On the 9th (local time), FortyTwoDot announced at CES 2024 held in Las Vegas, USA, that it is developing the SDV platform using Samsung Electronics' automotive processor, Exynos Auto. The Exynos automotive processor supplied by Samsung to FortyTwoDot this time is an advanced electronic semiconductor equipped with the latest automotive central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU).
On this day, both companies promised extensive cooperation in the future car sector, including AI-based SDV platform development, expansion of automotive SoC and auto products. The signing ceremony was attended by Song Changhyun, CEO of FortyTwoDot and head of Hyundai Motor·Kia SDV Division (President), and Park Yongin, President of Samsung Electronics System LSI.
FortyTwoDot plans to unveil the AI-based SDV platform with this automotive chip in 2025. Based on this agreement, both companies plan to continue various collaborations such as reference platform development, joint marketing, and ecosystem strengthening. Samsung Electronics will also provide the Exynos development platform equipped with the latest system-on-chip (SoC).
Song Changhyun, CEO of FortyTwoDot, said, "This cooperation with Samsung Electronics will lead to new services that connect and expand seamlessly without users needing to understand complex technology," adding, "We will provide a safe and enjoyable mobility experience."
