StyleV Reported to Prosecutors for Ignoring Fair Trade Commission Sanctions After Skipping Delivery Payment
Non-Compliance After Acceptance of Local Government Administrative Recommendations
The Fair Trade Commission announced on the 8th that it will refer the internet shopping mall StyleV to the prosecution for failing to properly comply with corrective measures.
StyleV is suspected of attracting consumers with advertisements claiming to sell essential daily items such as ramen at low prices, then delaying delivery or failing to provide refunds.
The Fair Trade Commission explained, "StyleV failed to properly process refunds and handle complaints following consumers' withdrawal of subscription, received corrective recommendations from the local government authority, Yuseong District Office in Daejeon, and even after accepting these recommendations, failed to comply, leading to the decision to refer the case to the prosecution."
According to the Fair Trade Commission, StyleV advertised selling products such as ramen, cosmetics, and electronic devices at low prices but did not supply the products to consumers who paid. It also neglected the shortage of personnel and facilities necessary for refund processing and consumer complaint handling, resulting in corrective recommendations from the Yuseong District Office, which StyleV accepted.
However, StyleV did not implement the recommendations within the deadline, causing consumers to suffer financial damages by neither receiving the products nor getting refunds.
