Nakdonggang Regional Office Joint Inspection on Restrictions for Using Aged Construction Equipment
The Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office announced on the 5th that it will conduct joint inspections to restrict the use of old construction machinery at public construction sites with a total construction cost of 10 billion KRW or more and voluntarily participating private construction sites within the air management zone during the 5th fine dust seasonal management period.
At public construction sites in the metropolitan area and air management zones with a total construction cost of 10 billion KRW or more, five types of old construction machinery must be used only after completing low-emission measures.
The five types of old construction machinery subject to low-emission measures include three types for road use (dump trucks, concrete pump trucks, concrete mixers) manufactured under emission standards before 2005, and two types for non-road use (forklifts, excavators) manufactured under emission standards before 2004.
The inspection will be conducted jointly with local governments, focusing on whether old construction machinery is in use and whether low-emission measures have been implemented, and dust control at construction sites will also be checked.
The Nakdong River Office supports early scrapping, DPF installation, engine replacement, and other measures for low-emission treatment of old construction machinery, and provides government subsidies not only for low-emission measures but also for the purchase of zero-emission construction machinery such as electric excavators and hydrogen forklifts.
To this end, in 2024, approximately 1.3 billion KRW in government subsidies will be provided for early scrapping of old construction machinery, and about 5.8 billion KRW for low-emission measures and the purchase of zero-emission construction machinery.
