"Due to Administrative Error..." Pyeongtaek City Postpones Groundbreaking Ceremony for Cheongbuk District Leisure Sports Park
Omission of Provincial Review in Selection Process of Supervision Company
"Reannouncement Early Next Year... No Delay Expected in Project Schedule"
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that the groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Cheongbuk District Leisure Sports Park' construction project, originally scheduled for the 9th, has been postponed due to a re-examination issue related to the construction project management service (supervision).
The city explained that the delay in the groundbreaking ceremony was due to the recent cancellation of the announcement for selecting the supervision company for the project.

This was because it was discovered late that the procedure of obtaining approval from Gyeonggi Province, which is required for supervision of large-scale park construction projects, had been omitted.
A city official stated, "We canceled the bid after realizing that the newly established Gyeonggi Province approval procedure in 2021 was omitted during the construction project management service process for the large-scale park project," adding, "We plan to go through the approval process and re-announce the bid as early as the beginning of next year." The official also added, "Although the groundbreaking ceremony has been postponed, since construction will be halted during the winter season, there will be no impact on the overall project schedule."
The city also plans to proceed with the selection of the construction company as originally scheduled, separate from the supervision process. Once the Public Procurement Service announces the construction company bid results today, the city will conduct a qualification review process for about two weeks before moving forward with the contract with the construction company.
The Cheongbuk District Leisure Sports Park is a large-scale park construction project underway on a 439,551㎡ site located at 1341 Okgil-ri, Cheongbuk-eup, Pyeongtaek City. The park will include sports facilities such as a BMX course, park golf course, and badminton courts, as well as various landscaping features, parking lots, plazas, and other convenience facilities.

Originally, this site was intended for a golf course development through attracting private investors, but after failing to do so, the land had been left unused for a long time. Subsequently, after reviewing the project's feasibility, the city decided to develop a large-scale leisure sports park instead of a golf course and has been promoting the project since 2021.
