World No.1 Scheffler Cheers Victory After 3 Years
Hero World Challenge Victory by 3 Strokes
Farewell to 2 Consecutive Runner-up Finishes... Prize Money 1.3 Billion Won
Straka 2nd, Thomas 3rd, Woods 18th
Scottie Scheffler (USA) demonstrated the power of being the world No. 1.
On the 3rd (local time), he finished the 4th round of the PGA Tour "special event" Hero World Challenge (total prize money $4.5 million) at Albany Golf Course (par 72, 7,449 yards) in New Providence, Bahamas, shooting 4 under par to secure a 3-stroke victory (20 under par 268). He completely wiped away the disappointment of finishing as runner-up for two consecutive years. The winner's prize money is $1 million (about 1.3 billion KRW). Although the tournament is hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation and is not an official PGA Tour event, world golf ranking points are awarded.

He relied on powerful drives averaging 309 yards, a fairway hit rate of 84.62%, and an accurate green in regulation rate of 88.89%. His putting average per hole was 1.81, which limited the number of additional birdies. Scheffler joined the PGA Tour in 2020 and has accumulated six career wins. He became a major champion by winning the 2022 Masters Tournament. Right after his victory, Scheffler exclaimed, "I played the same way as yesterday. I didn't prepare much, but I'm happy with the good outcome."
