Creating a Space for Harmony and Communication for Multicultural Families in the District

Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Hee-soo) announced on the 30th that the 2023 Multicultural Family Harmony Festival was successfully concluded.

Sponsored by Jindo-gun and organized by the Jindo-gun Family Center, the event was attended by over 300 multicultural families, creating a space for harmony and communication.

The festival featured a pre-event performance including Nanta and children's Korean dance, where marriage immigrants and their children took the stage to elevate the event's atmosphere. The program proceeded with a flag procession representing each country, a commemorative ceremony, and a cheerful sports day.

Additionally, various experience booths such as traditional multicultural games, making air fresheners, sock woodworking crafts, and planting Lucky Bamboo were operated together, providing a variety of attractions and enjoyable activities.

In particular, during the commemorative ceremony, three individuals, including marriage immigrants who serve as role models in society and neighbors, as well as contributors to supporting multicultural families, were awarded the Jindo-gun Governor’s Commendation for Meritorious Service in Multicultural Social Integration.

In the afternoon, when the Myeongnyang Sports Day took place, programs such as athletic competitions and multicultural family singing contests were prepared, making it a festival where the whole family could enjoy.

An official from the County Family Happiness Department said, “We hope that through this festival, multicultural families including marriage immigrants will feel a sense of belonging as members of the local community and settle down,” adding, “We will continue to develop various support policies for the stable settlement of multicultural families.”
