Gwangju Seo-gu Appoints Hwang Bong-ju as Director of Facility Management Corporation
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 30th that Hwang Bongju, former head of the Gwangju Waterworks Headquarters, has been appointed as the 2nd chairman of the Seo-gu Facilities Management Corporation.
The term of office is three years starting from the 1st of next month.
Chairman Hwang, who worked as a public official for over 40 years, has held key positions such as Gwangju City Policy Planning Officer, Director of the Autonomous Administration Bureau, Deputy Mayor of Nam-gu, and Head of the Waterworks Headquarters. Recently, he served as the Secretary General of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Innovation Platform.
The special personnel hearing committee for the chairman candidate of the Seo-gu Facilities Management Corporation also highly evaluated Chairman Hwang’s extensive public service experience, expertise, organizational management, and ability to innovate management.
Chairman Hwang stated, “To restore trust in the corporation, I will establish strategies to improve key management evaluation indicators and focus on strengthening capabilities through education and training for managers and employees. At the same time, I will improve the corporation’s major tasks directly related to residents’ convenience, such as household waste collection, to enhance residents’ perception of civil service.”
Seo-gu Mayor Kim Ikang said, “I hope Chairman Hwang will fully demonstrate his administrative expertise and crisis management skills so that the Seo-gu Facilities Management Corporation can establish itself as a public enterprise that improves the quality of life and convenience for Seo-gu residents.”
Meanwhile, Chairman Hwang plans to start his duties on the morning of the 1st of next month by visiting the temporary sites of the Living Environment Center and the Resource Recovery Center at 6 a.m. to encourage on-site employees, strongly expressing his commitment to ‘field-centered management’ without holding a separate inauguration ceremony.
