Recognition for Contributions to Regional Intellectual Property Creation and Establishment of a Creative Economy Foundation
On the 30th, Mokpo National University (President Song Ha-cheol) announced that Professor Jo Kyung-hee of the Department of Fashion Clothing received a commendation from the Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office at the ‘2023 Jeonnam Intellectual Property Merit Awards’ conducted by Jeonnam Technopark Foundation on the 29th.

Professor Jo Kyung-hee was recognized for her remarkable achievements in creating regional intellectual property and contributing to industry-academia cooperation by developing designs that reflect the characteristics of the region and commercializing them.
Professor Jo Kyung-hee has served as a professor in the Department of Fashion Clothing at Mokpo National University for 30 years and has filed over 250 intellectual property rights (designs) related to fashion design and cultural tourism products.

Professor Jo Kyung-hee said, “Over the past several years, while mentoring student start-up clubs, I have strived to recycle resources from Mokpo and other marine areas or incorporate marine imagery features into fashion items to commercialize them. I am pleased and grateful that my efforts to protect the originality of regional specialty products and enhance their completeness as regional cultural products have been recognized.”
