HACCP KOREA 2023, held the previous day at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is an event hosted by the Korea Food Safety Management Certification Institute under the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to promote the development of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and exchange overseas information. At this event, held under the theme “Future Strategies for Food Safety Management in the Transition to Smart HACCP,” Center Head Choi In-sil was recognized for her efforts to enhance the safety and improve the quality of jang products?such as soy sauce, doenjang, and gochujang?which are indispensable on Korean tables and gaining attention overseas.
In 2002, Sempio became the first in the industry to receive HACCP certification for all soy sauce, doenjang, and gochujang products. At that time, HACCP certification was not mandatory for jang products, but Sempio proactively introduced the standards to effectively manage food hazards such as food poisoning bacteria and foreign substances, leading the development of jang culture.
In 2011, Sempio was the first in the industry to obtain SQF (Safe Quality Food, an international food safety and quality management system) certification, and in 2014, it was recognized for its excellent food safety and quality management system performance by being selected as the ‘SQFI (Safe Quality Food Institute) Manufacturer of the Year’?the first in Asia to receive this honor.
