An Artificial Wetland for Water Quality Improvement to Be Established at Icheon Jukdangcheon
Icheon-si Secures Additional 1 Billion KRW for Project Budget
"Expanding Facility Capacity and Creating an Eco-Friendly Space"
An artificial wetland will be created to improve water quality pollution in Jukdangcheon, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do.
On the 22nd, Icheon City announced that it plans to actively promote the project after recently securing 7 billion KRW for the installation of a non-point source pollution reduction facility (artificial wetland) in Jukdangcheon. The city explained that this amount increased by 1 billion KRW from the original budget due to the Ministry of Environment's budget increase.
'Non-point source pollution' refers to pollution caused by multiple unspecified sources or the entire area's pollution sources, where the discharge points cannot be specifically identified. Representative examples include river pollution caused by fertilization or pesticide application in farmland and soil erosion.
The city explained that the project budget increased by 1 billion KRW due to the Ministry of Environment's budget increase. Icheon City added that as the artificial wetland facility capacity was expanded from the original 5,000㎥ to 19,100㎥, it continuously requested the Ministry of Environment to increase the project budget and secured additional funds this time.
With the total project budget increase, the city plans to create an artificial wetland to reduce pollutants flowing in with rainwater from large-scale livestock areas and urban areas around Jukdangcheon.
