The government has decided to integrate the technology market platforms that sell small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) technologies into a single platform called the 'SME Technology Market' starting this month.

On the 2nd, the Ministry of Economy and Finance held the 12th Public Institution Management Committee chaired by Vice Minister Kim Wan-seop and confirmed the implementation tasks for this initiative. The technology market is a platform where public institutions purchase technologies and products from SMEs and provide support programs such as technology development and policy financing to SMEs. Technologies from SMEs that pass the review by public institutions are registered on the market.

The government decided to integrate the platforms, which were previously operated separately in three categories: Social Overhead Capital (SOC), Energy, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), into the SME Technology Market.

This integration aims to provide customized, consolidated support information for SMEs that was previously dispersed, enhancing convenience for SMEs in acquiring various information. Functions utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) for technology registration applications have also been introduced.

To revitalize the technology market, standard guidelines for the technology review and certification procedures of public institutions have been established, and AI-based functions for technology registration applications have been implemented. The government also plans to strengthen promotion of the technology market by holding on-site briefing sessions regularly. With this reorganization, the government expects the purchase performance of SME technologies and products to increase nearly sixfold, from 157.9 billion won last year to 1.1 trillion won by 2027.
