The Innovation Committee of the People Power Party, led by In Yo-han, decided as its first innovation proposal to grant a 'general amnesty' that would lift the disciplinary sanctions imposed by the Ethics Committee on former party leader Lee Jun-seok, Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, and Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won. Lee, the subject of the amnesty, immediately expressed his opposition through Facebook.
On the 27th, Innovation Committee member Kim Kyung-jin met with reporters at the party’s central office and said, "There were various agenda items, but the general consensus among the committee members was to make a general amnesty for party unity the first agenda item," adding, "The discussion of a general amnesty for broad party reconciliation and balance is the top agenda." Innovation Committee Chair In Yo-han has consistently emphasized 'integration' as a key theme of the committee.
The targets of the general amnesty mentioned included former party leader Lee, Supreme Council member Kim, Mayor Hong of Daegu, and lawmaker Tae Young-ho, all of whom had been disciplined by the party’s Ethics Committee. However, Kim clarified, "For example, cases involving criminal charges or indictments would be excluded from the discussion."
Additionally, Kim emphasized that Chair In and the Innovation Committee are willing to meet with Lee Jun-seok, former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, and others. Kim said, "The important thing is that Chair In and the Innovation Committee are fully willing to meet both Yoo Seung-min and Lee Jun-seok, and there is absolutely no reason to avoid meetings for the development and unity of the party."
Procedurally, the 'general amnesty' is expected to require approval from the party’s Supreme Council. Kim stated, "If this agenda is discussed, the Supreme Council has the party’s final policy and political decision-making function, so if they approve it, it should be possible."
Upon the announcement of the Innovation Committee’s agenda, former leader Lee immediately expressed opposition on Facebook. He said, "The Innovation Committee’s role is to publicly point out and reflect on the unreasonable actions taken to seize party power, not to approach the situation as if granting leniency by force, which only worsens the situation." He continued, "I oppose this thinking of the Innovation Committee and hope they do not reconsider it," urging, "They should address more fundamental issues that criticize the abuse of power."
Following the meeting, the Innovation Committee decided that its first official activity will be to visit the Gwangju 5·18 Democratic Cemetery on the 30th. Chair In also attended the 44th anniversary memorial service for former President Park Chung-hee with party leadership the previous day. In addition, Chair In and some committee members plan to attend a memorial for the Itaewon tragedy. Regarding this, Kim explained, "We believe that political activities on-site are not something the Innovation Committee should directly handle, so only the chair and some members will attend."

Meanwhile, during the meeting, there was also a proposal to discuss the government’s cuts to R&D budgets.
