[2023 National Audit] 'Disciplinary Information System' to Prevent Sports School Violence, Only 4 Applications
The Sports Ethics Center under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has established a 'Disciplinary Information System' that allows for the inquiry of corruption and school violence information in the sports sector, but there are criticisms that related sports organizations are underutilizing the system.
According to data submitted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 24th to Lee Byung-hoon, a member of the National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee from the Democratic Party of Korea, only four organizations out of about 3,000 sports organizations applied for access accounts to input information into the Disciplinary Information System.
The Sports Ethics Center has built the Disciplinary Information System in accordance with the National Sports Promotion Act and is currently operating it on a trial basis. Once the system officially launches in November, it will integrate and manage disciplinary information collected from sports organizations and issue documents verifying disciplinary status when participating in competitions or seeking employment.
For the Disciplinary Information System to function properly, each of the approximately 3,000 sports organizations and institutions must obtain their own accounts. However, currently, only four organizations?Yeongdong-gun Sports Council, Korea e-Sports Association, Korea DanceSport Federation, and Korea Professional Football League?have been issued accounts.

Assemblyman Lee said, "The fact that only four out of about 3,000 organizations have joined reveals the status of the Sports Ethics Center within the sports community," adding, "The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, who is the legal operator of the Disciplinary Information System, should take responsibility and ensure that all accounts are applied for by October, and that each institution designates a person in charge of the system."
