View original imageOn the 24th, Shinhan Bank, which received the Asia Economic Representative Award in the Personnel and Human Resources category at the '8th Asia Gender Equality Index Awards,' is increasing the hiring rate of female employees while operating various female leader development programs.
Shinhan Bank is actively recruiting outstanding female talent, increasing the hiring rate of female new employees from 44.7% in 2019 to 47.5% last year. Additionally, the bank produces and provides interviewers with training videos that include a ban on gender-discriminatory remarks during new employee recruitment, maintaining a gender-equal hiring process consistently.
Through the 'SHeroes_Blue' program, Shinhan Bank presents a vision for female leaders and operates programs for sustainable growth. This program offers executive coaching, special lectures by external experts, and mentoring for female leader groups, expanding the target regions, ranks, and selection scale annually. As the name implies, meaning 'Shinhan's Female Heroes,' it contributes to spreading a culture of gender equality.
Shinhan Bank operates evaluation and promotion systems equally without discrimination between male and female employees. It also conducts biannual training to support smooth work reintegration for employees returning from parental leave. In addition, sexual harassment prevention education is provided during new employee and promotion training, and a sexual harassment and bullying counseling center is operated.
Shinhan Bank supports shortened working hours for employees with children entering elementary school. It also offers paid leave such as menstrual leave (1 day per month), maternity leave (110 days), fetal examination leave (1 day per month), spouse childbirth leave (10 days), and infertility treatment leave (3 days per year). Furthermore, it supports parental leave for 2 years, infertility leave for 1 year, and family care leave (with an additional 1-year extension possible).

In addition, Shinhan Bank established an offline weekend special lecture program with families in March, operating it three times in the first half and three times in the second half of the year. Employees and their spouses attend expert weekend lectures, while children experience various specialized programs. Classes such as coding, basketball, and cultural experiences are offered by age group, receiving positive responses from employees. Moreover, for employees with children under 9 years old or in the third grade of elementary school or below who have unused statutory parental leave periods, the bank operates the 'Mom Comfortable 4Hours' system, allowing them to adjust their working hours to 4 hours per day.
