Chungnam Province Detects 15 Cases of 'Origin Labeling Violations' on Chuseok Seasonal Products
The Civil Affairs Judicial Police of Chungnam Province (hereinafter referred to as Special Judicial Police) announced on the 17th that they conducted inspections at 719 locations, including manufacturers of seasonal products and large supermarkets, from the 4th to the 27th of last month before Chuseok, uncovering 15 cases of violations.
The inspections were carried out by a joint task force formed by the Special Judicial Police and the Chungnam branch of the Agricultural Products Quality Management Service to prevent violations of origin labeling and illegal distribution of seasonal food products before the holiday.
Among the violations detected, two cases of false origin labeling were referred to the prosecution, and the remaining 13 cases are planned to be fined.
In the origin labeling crackdown, Restaurant A was caught selling pork from Spain and the United States disguised as domestic pork, and Mart B was caught arbitrarily changing the expiration dates of beef and pork to sell.

Nam Sang-hoon, Safety Planning Officer of Chungnam Province, said, “Cases of violations related to seasonal products continue to be detected around the holidays,” and added, “Chungnam Province will do its best to create an environment where residents can safely purchase and consume food through proactive inspections.”
