Kim Tae-jin, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Proposes 'Safe Barefoot Lighting Installation at Sangmu Citizen Park'
Kim Tae-jin, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, proposed the "Prompt Installation of Safe Lighting for Barefoot Paths in Sangmu Citizen's Park."
In a 5-minute free speech at the 315th extraordinary session held on the 12th, Councilor Kim stated, ▲Installation of safe lighting for barefoot paths at night in Sangmu Citizen's Park ▲The need for institutional improvements related to ordinances to revitalize barefoot paths.
Councilor Kim explained, "The barefoot path in Sangmu Citizen's Park is loved by about 1,000 residents daily. It is a positive case that improved the quality of life for local residents by utilizing a space that had become a crime-prone area due to low usage."
He added, "The creation of barefoot paths in crime-prone areas has improved the environment and become a model for other local governments. It is very popular, with visits for comparative study from Buk-gu and Gwangsan-gu."
He continued, "For residents who use the path frequently even at night, it is urgent to install safe lighting in some sections of the currently dim barefoot path to allow for safe walks."
Furthermore, he mentioned, "To revitalize and maintain the barefoot path stably, it is necessary to revise the walking ordinances related to barefoot paths, which are currently organized under the Health Promotion Division and the Park and Greenery Division."
He urged, "Based on the expertise of each department, the Health Promotion Division should clearly handle education, promotion, events, and organization, while the Park and Greenery Division should be responsible for building the walking path infrastructure, clearly defining responsibilities."
