Bucheon City Senior Specialized Hospital Opens 111-Bed Dementia Specialized Ward

The Bucheon City Senior Specialized Hospital in Gyeonggi has established a dementia-specialized ward and has officially begun operations.

According to the hospital on the 8th, the general ward on the 3rd floor of the building was converted into a dementia-specialized ward with 111 beds. They also set up a program room to assist dementia patients with rehabilitation, a family counseling room, and a common lounge (Garden of Light). Additionally, they equipped 313 medical devices of 20 different types, including essential medical equipment such as a computerized cognitive rehabilitation system for the elderly, and completed the reassignment of medical staff.

Previously, Bucheon City Senior Specialized Hospital was selected last year as a recipient of the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s "Public Nursing Hospital Function Enhancement Project," securing a project budget of 1.385 billion KRW (50% national funds and 50% local funds), and carried out remodeling work to convert the general ward into a dementia-specialized ward.

The hospital plans to further strengthen its role as a leading public nursing hospital in the region by being designated as a Dementia Safety Hospital by the government.

Bucheon City Senior Specialized Hospital is operated by the Hyewon Medical Foundation, which owns Bucheon Sejong Hospital and Incheon Sejong Hospital, under consignment from Bucheon City. It has established itself as a reliable public nursing hospital in the region by achieving medical institution accreditation for three consecutive times, receiving a first-grade rating in adequacy evaluation, earning the highest grade in last year’s public nursing hospital operation evaluation, being selected as an outstanding public medical institution, and receiving the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.
