Police Begin Preliminary Investigation into 'Excessive Clicking on Next China Cheer' Case
The police have launched a pre-investigation (internal inquiry) regarding the incident during the Hangzhou Asian Games men's soccer quarterfinal between Korea and China, where the Chinese team received significantly more click-based support on the portal site Daum.
On the 6th, the Cyber Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it had begun a pre-investigation on the excessive clicking support incident for China on Daum that occurred on the 4th. It is known that the National Police Agency assigned the case to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency considering the seriousness of the incident. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency plans to investigate whether foreign forces deliberately manipulated the support count using virtual private networks (VPNs) or other means.
