Disclosure of Defect Status by Construction Companies from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
Over the past five years, the construction company with the highest number of detailed defect judgments in multi-family housing (apartments) was GS Construction. Among the top 20 companies with the most defect judgments, five were in the 'Top 10' construction companies by construction capability evaluation.
On the 25th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it would disclose the status of defect applications and processing by the Defect Review Dispute Mediation Committee, as well as defect status by construction company, to guarantee the public's right to know about housing defects.
The Defect Review Dispute Mediation Committee has handled an average of 4,000 defect and dispute cases annually from 2019 to August of this year. Among these, 90% were defect review cases determining the presence of defects.

Among the cases submitted to the Defect Review Dispute Mediation Committee over the past 4 years and 8 months, the construction company with the highest number of detailed defects judged as 'defects' was GS Construction, which triggered the rebar omission incident. A total of 3,062 cases were submitted, and 1,612 cases (52.6%) were judged as defects.
Following GS Construction was Gyeryong Construction with 533 defects (defect judgment rate 55.8%). Daebang Construction had 503 cases (52.0%), SM Shipping 402 cases (55.4%), and Daemyung General Construction 361 cases (25.2%), ranking 3rd to 5th respectively.

The construction companies ranked 6th to 10th in the number of defect judgments were DL E&C (323 cases, 53.5%), Daewoo Construction (308 cases, 24.2%), Dongyeon General Construction (251 cases, 56.0%), Doosan Construction (213 cases, 15.8%), and Lotte Construction (202 cases, 25.3%) in that order.
