Landlord Who Embezzled Jeonse Deposit Arrested
The landlord who embezzled tenants' jeonse deposits has been arrested.
On the 22nd, the Gwangsan Police Station in Gwangju announced that they had arrested landlord A of a multi-family house on charges of fraud.
Mr. A is accused of receiving 580 million won in jeonse deposits from five tenants between June 2019 and December of last year and failing to return the money.
He purchased the building using a no-capital 'gap investment' method, and the jeonse deposits were found to be close to the purchase price.
Victims who secured the deposits through youth jeonse loan programs have reportedly been suffering from mental health issues such as depression and panic disorder.
