Seongbuk-gu to Hold '2023 Chuseok Holiday Event' at 6 Traditional Markets and 4 Alley-type Shopping Districts...5-10% Discount on Holiday Ritual Supplies...Onnuri Gift Certificates and Prizes for Purchases Over a Certain Amount
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) is hosting the '2023 Traditional Market Chuseok Holiday Event,' featuring participation from six traditional markets and four alley-type shopping districts in the area to celebrate Chuseok.
This event was launched to revitalize traditional markets struggling due to the economic downturn and to support consumers in purchasing a variety of high-quality products, including holiday ritual items, at affordable prices.
During the event period, each market will offer a 5-10% discount on ritual items such as agricultural and marine products, livestock products, and fruits. Additionally, customers who purchase above a certain amount will receive prizes such as hamcho salt, glutinous rice, or Onnuri gift certificates. By submitting purchase receipts to the customer convenience center or designated locations in each market, Onnuri gift certificates or prizes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Especially for this Chuseok holiday, additional events are planned at each market, including ▲Village Market Stream Market (9/23, Jeongneung Market) ▲Coffee Sharing Program (9/25, Donam Market) ▲Rice Cake Pounding Event (9/27, Dolgoji Market).
Starting from the 23rd, the mayor and the market merchants' association will conduct a traditional market tour to meet with market merchants, listen to their current issues firsthand, and exchange holiday greetings.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “This event was prepared to invigorate local merchants who are struggling due to the recent recession and to help Seongbuk residents who visit the markets to purchase ritual items and food enjoy Chuseok with a happier heart.” He added, “I hope everyone has a bountiful Hangawi through this event, and our district will always do its best for merchants and residents.”
