Hwaseong-si "Will Officially Request Ministry of Land to Extend GTX-C Line to Byeongjeom Station"
Plan to Propose 'Woninja Burden' Method Within This Month
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province plans to officially request the government to extend the Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX) Line C to Byeongjeom Station.
Hwaseong City announced on the 19th that it made this decision during an emergency party-government consultation meeting with the Democratic Party Hwaseong Byeong District Committee.
On the 19th, at the Hwaseong City Emergency Party-Government Council, Hwaseong Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun, Kwon Chil-seung, Chairman of the Hwaseong Byeong District of the Democratic Party of Korea, and other meeting attendees pledged to successfully extend the GTX-C line to Byeongjeom Station.

The GTX-C line is a national railway network connecting Yangju City and Suwon in Gyeonggi Province. Hwaseong City has been requesting related agencies, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to extend the planned line, which was originally scheduled to end at Suwon Station, to Byeongjeom Station.
In particular, the city explained that it decided to formally request the line extension within this month, considering the results of its own study conducted last month titled ‘GTX-C Extension Operation and Byeongjeom Station Transfer Condition Improvement Review,’ which showed sufficient project feasibility, as well as the recent signing of an implementation agreement between the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and private operators for the GTX-C main line (Suwon~Deokjeong) around the same time.
Accordingly, the city and the Democratic Party Hwaseong Byeong District Committee plan to request the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to promote the project under the ‘polluter pays’ principle, aiming for the opening of Byeongjeom Station in 2028.
