Gyeonggi Office of Education to Invest 137.5 Billion KRW in 'School Complex Facilities' in 6 Locations Including Yongin
The construction of school complex facilities in Gyeonggi Province is set to increase significantly.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced on the 18th that six regions within the province?Yongin, Yeoju, Yeoncheon, Siheung, Anseong, and Yangju?have been selected for the Ministry of Education's school complex facility public project this year.
School complex facilities are projects that integratively establish educational, childcare, cultural, and sports facilities together with school facilities according to the needs of schools and local communities.
Through this public project, the Provincial Office of Education will receive 51.8 billion KRW in support from the Ministry of Education out of the total 137.5 billion KRW budget for constructing school complex facilities in the six regions including Yongin.
The Office plans to establish the "Baekam Complex Cultural Center" (tentative name) in Baekam-myeon, Yongin, equipped with a swimming pool, childcare classrooms, and community convenience facilities.
In Yeoju, a school complex facility will be built at the newly relocated Yeoju Elementary School, featuring a swimming pool, multipurpose gymnasium, childcare classrooms, and a makerspace.
Additionally, in Yeoncheon, an "Edu Healthcare Center" (tentative name) will be developed on a site owned by the Yeoncheon Office of Education in Jeongok-eup, planned to operate a swimming pool, bowling alley, library, childcare classrooms, and AI, AR, and coding education rooms.
School complex facilities will also be operated in Siheung, Anseong, and Yangju by utilizing closed school sites and other locations.

Lee Heon-ju, head of the Facilities Division at the Provincial Office of Education, stated, "We will use this school complex facility public project as an opportunity to further activate school complex facilities and strive to expand facilities that meet both local urgent demands and school needs."
