Korea-Qatar to Strengthen Cooperation in 'Smart Agriculture' Sector
Han Hoon, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Holds Talks with Qatar Autonomous Administration Minister
Qatar Greenhouse Market Expected to Reach $400 Million by 2027
South Korea and Qatar have agreed to mutually cooperate in the field of smart agriculture, including activating investments in intelligent farms (smart farms) and the Doha International Horticultural Expo.
On the 13th (local time), Han Hoon, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, met with Al Subeika, Minister of the Qatar Autonomous Administration, in Qatar and promised to establish a mutually progressive relationship in the field of smart agriculture, the Ministry announced on the 14th.
An official from the Ministry explained, "Qatar has traditionally been a country with a large volume of agricultural imports, but recently it has been promoting food self-sufficiency by establishing a food security strategy, so the entry of Korean smart agriculture into the market is highly anticipated."
Vice Minister Han requested cooperation such as activating investments and exchanges of economic working groups to enable domestic companies in the smart agriculture sector to smoothly enter Qatar, and mentioned that Korea will showcase smart agriculture technologies at the Doha International Horticultural Expo. Minister Al Subeika expressed gratitude for Korea's participation in the Doha International Horticultural Expo and responded by suggesting that the two countries seek concrete cooperation plans based on Korea's excellent smart agriculture technology.

Vice Minister Han said, "Qatar is one of the promising countries for smart agriculture exports, with the greenhouse market size expected to reach about 400 million dollars by 2027," and added, "We will continue to advance cooperation tasks between the two countries related to smart agriculture."
