Kim Bi-o's thrilling victory. On the 3rd day at The Haven Country Club (Par 72, 7,293 yards) in Daebudo, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, the final round of the KPGA Korean Tour LX Championship (total prize money 600 million KRW) saw him shoot 5 under par, tying with Hwang Jung-gon at 21 under par 267 strokes, then clinching the win with a ‘winning par’ on the second hole of the playoff resumed at the 18th hole. This marks his 9th career win, coming 1 year and 3 months after his victory at the SK Telecom Open last June, with a winner’s prize of 120 million KRW.
Kim Bi-o started with a 2-stroke lead, recording 1 eagle and 4 birdies (1 bogey). He performed well by reducing 3 strokes up to the 17th hole (Par 4), but was 2 strokes behind Hwang Jung-gon, who finished the round as the leader, making the win seem difficult. However, on the 18th hole, after a tee shot of 300.61 yards, he hit his second shot to within 2.16 meters of the hole and dramatically made the eagle. In the second playoff hole, Hwang Jung-gon sent his tee shot out of bounds (OB), allowing Kim Bi-o to easily claim the winner’s trophy.

Hwang Jung-gon, who swept up 10 birdies without any bogeys, aimed for a comeback victory but settled for runner-up. Ham Jung-woo surged 8 strokes to leap into 3rd place (20 under par 268 strokes). Lee Tae-hee shot 7 under par to finish 4th (19 under par 269 strokes). National team member Jang Yoo-bin, who won last week’s KPGA Gunsan CC Open, placed 5th (17 under par 271 strokes). Korean student studying in the U.S., Lee Byung-ho, finished tied for 52nd (3 under par 285 strokes) in the tournament.
