Chairman Chey Tae-won: "Members Must Actively Express Opinions for a 'Deep Change'"
'Icheon Forum' Held for Four Days... Closes on the 24th
"We Must Derive Unprecedented Change Tasks and Find Direction"
"Constantly and actively voicing opinions is essential to gather problems and find solutions."
Choi Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, emphasized this point on the 24th at the 'Icheon Forum 2023' held at the SKMS Research Institute in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, regarding 'Deep Change' and the starting point of happiness. Chairman Choi concluded the four-day forum with a dialogue with members, stating, "'Deep Change' does not happen overnight," and added, "Members must continuously raise their voices, communicate, and derive unprecedented change tasks and find directions." He highlighted that 'Speak-Out,' the core keyword of this year's Icheon Forum, is both the starting point and driving force of management innovation.
'Speak-Out,' meaning active expression of opinions, was the phrase Chairman Choi most frequently urged during 100 happiness talks with members in 2019. He believes that only when members actively voice their opinions can the right direction for innovation be found, and members' growth and happiness enhancement can be guaranteed. Chairman Choi also expressed the view that "it is necessary to understand what changes members want through forums like the Icheon Forum and reflect this in the process of deriving management tasks for the CEO seminar held in October."

Chairman Choi also advised, "The world is changing too fast, so the company's past growth formulas no longer work, and it has become difficult to find fixed answers for individual growth methods," adding, "Now, people must find their own ways to grow, and those who find tasks on their own rather than just doing assigned work will be recognized for their value."
Regarding one of the forum's themes, 'Customer Story,' he emphasized, "Customers will leave if you do not create stories that continue the relationship," and added, "Even if carbon-zero products are expensive, more people buy them for their value, so now it is important to create value, not just products." Chairman Choi recently returned on the 23rd after staying abroad to promote the Busan Expo bid.
The Icheon Forum, held from the 21st, covered ▲ innovation in work methods ▲ securing future capabilities of members ▲ evaluation and compensation ▲ Customer Story ▲ Globalization ▲ enhancing communication between the board of directors and members. In the closing session attended by Chairman Choi, over 2,600 people connected, generating more than 10,000 comments and questions, showing the enthusiastic participation of members. The board of directors also actively communicated with members through the Icheon Forum. Over 110 directors from six affiliates met members in pre-subforums to exchange opinions on board-centered management and strengthening the implementation of the 'Governance Story.'
An SK official said, "The voices of members gathered at the Icheon Forum will act as a catalyst to accelerate the practice of 'Deep Change,'" adding, "We will design optimal solutions for each organization and actively implement them."
