On the 23rd, Son Eun-kyung, CEO of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Yap van Zweden, the next music director, and Kim Yong-jik, president of the Korea Autism Love Association, signed the MOU the previous day at the Seoul Philharmonic Chamber rehearsal room to "promote cultural welfare for individuals with autism and establish a sustainable new model of arts welfare."
Through this MOU, the two organizations will mutually cooperate on ▲ promoting cultural welfare for autism ▲ expanding cultural enjoyment opportunities for individuals with autism and their families ▲ establishing a sustainable new model of arts welfare.
The Korea Autism Love Association, established in 2006 with approval from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, is the only non-profit public organization in Korea focused on autism. It represents the rights and interests of individuals with autism and their families and carries out welfare projects aimed at improving quality of life and social integration.
Son Eun-kyung, CEO of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, stated, "Based on the capabilities of both organizations, we will promote cultural welfare for autism and create a sustainable new model of arts welfare." Along with Yap van Zweden, the next music director, she expressed the intention to continue activities fulfilling social responsibility, including holding special annual performances for socially vulnerable groups.
In addition to the MOU, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra donated the entire proceeds of 18.11 million KRW from the "A Very Special Concert Presented by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra" held on April 7 at Ewha Womans University Auditorium (all tickets sold at 10,000 KRW) to the Korea Autism Love Association. The donation will be used to promote cultural welfare for autism, strengthen social basic rights, and improve awareness of autism.
The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra has consistently carried out projects accompanying culturally marginalized groups and socially vulnerable individuals beyond its regular concerts.
They continue to hold concerts that directly reach out to citizens such as multicultural families, people with developmental and physical disabilities, and their families who usually find it difficult to visit professional performance venues or have limited access to culture. These include "Our Neighborhood Concert," "Small Concert," "Happy Concert, Together!," "Museum Concert," and "After-Work Talk Concert."
