Jung Chanki, Director of Bitgoeul 50+ Center, Completes 2-Year Term and Retires
Jung Chan-gi, director of the Bitgoeul 50+ Center, who guided middle-aged citizens in the Gwangju area to spend a meaningful and hopeful second chapter of their lives, held a retirement ceremony on the 18th after completing his two-year term.
According to the Gwangju Bitgoeul 50+ Center on the 21st, on the 18th, Jung Chan-gi, director of the Bitgoeul 50+ Center, held a retirement ceremony attended by related organization officials including Son Su-ji, head of the Aging Society Policy Division at Gwangju City Hall, and Lee Sang-tae, acting director of the Social Service Agency, as well as middle-aged citizens from the Gwangju area.
Director Jung is recognized for creating a new institution that supports life redesign, guiding middle-aged citizens in Gwangju to spend a meaningful and hopeful second chapter of their lives in the era of longevity.
During his tenure, he signed memorandums of understanding with 29 related organizations including the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the National Pension Service, and the Seoul 50+ Foundation, and linked information from each institution to the center’s website, enabling middle-aged citizens to access all the information they seek at once. This early establishment resulted in over 5,000 monthly visits.
Additionally, through diagnosing various needs of middle-aged citizens, counseling was provided to 2,500 people, and customized job recruitment information from various institutions was offered more than 12,000 times, achieving a record of 25,000 users of the center within two years.
In particular, the center’s core task of life transition education for middle-aged citizens was carried out by developing seven key programs such as Life School and Retirement Preparation Academy, educating 3,200 people over 111 sessions in two years to provide support.
Furthermore, linked with education, the social contribution-type job project at Bitgoeul 50+ Jobs involved about 300 participants across six projects, and the career-type jobs for middle-aged individuals hired a total of 75 people in two projects, providing employment opportunities.

Jung Chan-gi, director of the Bitgoeul 50+ Center, said, "As the inaugural director, I deeply engraved in my heart the saying not to walk erratically when walking through a snow-covered field, and I have tried to live a righteous life with a sincere heart like a goldfish in a fishbowl. I will leave with humility, entrusting everything to the middle-aged citizens who used and supported the center and to everyone else."
