Typhoon 'Khanun' Approaches North... Ministry of Industry Checks Power Facility Damage Prevention and Management Status
As Typhoon 'Khanun' passes through the Korean Peninsula and moves northward, an emergency has been declared for the management of power facilities such as power plants and transmission lines.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 9th that Deputy Minister Kang Kyung-sung will visit the Sejong Combined Power Plant (with a capacity of 530MW) to inspect typhoon damage prevention and the management status of key power facilities.
Deputy Minister Kang will check the status of preemptive safety measures and inspections of vulnerable facilities, the emergency response system, and recovery plans in case of failures, urging all efforts to ensure safety management to prevent any casualties caused by the typhoon.
Deputy Minister Kang said, "We must move away from conventional inspections and prepare thoroughly with double and triple checks. In the event of equipment failure, it is crucial to minimize damage through rapid recovery. Since we have been under the full influence of the typhoon since early morning, I ask all staff to familiarize themselves with the manual and be fully committed to emergency duty."
