Police Request Arrest Warrant for Rolls-Royce Man... "7 Types of Drugs Detected"
Comprehensive Investigation Including Forensic Science Data and Activity Records
The police have requested an arrest warrant for a man in his 20s who drove a Rolls-Royce onto a sidewalk, hitting a pedestrian and causing serious injuries.
On the 9th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that they had applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A on charges including dangerous driving under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and violation of the Road Traffic Act (drug driving). A police official explained, "We applied for the arrest warrant based on the data confirmed so far from the National Forensic Service (NFS) and the suspect's movements on the day."
On the evening of the 2nd, around 8:10 PM, Mr. A was driving near Apgujeong Station in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, when he drove onto the sidewalk, hitting a woman in her 20s walking there and crashing into the exterior wall of a building before coming to a stop. The victim sustained serious injuries and underwent surgery at a hospital.
Mr. A tested positive for ketamine in a rapid drug screening test. Ketamine is a medical anesthetic classified as a psychotropic substance, commonly known as a "club drug." Mr. A was released 17 hours after being arrested. He stated, "I received treatment at a hospital a few days ago, and the injection contained ketamine." The hospital confirmed that Mr. A had been treated there and issued a certificate. However, a subsequent detailed examination by the NFS detected six additional drugs besides ketamine.

The police judged that it would be difficult to obtain an arrest warrant under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling, so they released Mr. A and continued supplementary investigations. If an arrest warrant is issued for Mr. A, the police plan to conduct further investigations regarding the drugs and then transfer the case to the prosecution.
