World Scout Organization Urges Korea Scout Association to Prepare Alternatives for Event Conclusion and Withdrawal Support
President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 5th instructed to "urgently add a tourism program where participants can experience Korea's industry, culture, history, and nature" at the World Scout Jamboree.
On the same day, President Yoon checked the on-site situation at the Saemangeum World Jamboree camping ground via phone with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, and conveyed this instruction, Kim Eun-hye, the presidential office's chief spokesperson, reported in a written briefing.
In particular, President Yoon urged Prime Minister Han and Minister Lee to mobilize the government's full efforts. He also requested cooperation from various cities and provinces including Seoul, Pyeongchang, Gyeongju, and Busan to ensure that all students who apply for the tourism program to learn about Korea's industry, culture, history, and nature can participate. Additionally, he ordered the provision of cool air-conditioned buses to support making it a memorable Korean Jamboree.
Meanwhile, as heat-related illnesses have surged at the Saemangeum Jamboree, some countries have decided to withdraw. Starting with the United Kingdom, which dispatched the largest number of participants, the United States and Singapore are also reportedly proceeding with early withdrawal procedures.

The World Organization of the Scout Movement is also said to have recommended suspending the Jamboree. The final discussion took place at the representatives' meeting held at 9 a.m. that day. The Jamboree Organizing Committee postponed the press briefing originally scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the afternoon. In a statement released after the UK's withdrawal decision, the World Organization of the Scout Movement stated, "We requested the host, the Korea Scout Association, to consider alternatives such as ending the event earlier than planned and supporting participants until they return to their home countries." They also said, "We requested additional financial and personnel support from the Korean government and emphasized that the safety of participants must be the top priority."
