The purchase of Imsil Hongsil chili peppers, a representative agricultural product and premium brand of Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, has officially begun.

According to the county on the 2nd, Imsil Chili & Agricultural Products Processing and Sales Co., Ltd., the investing organization, has started purchasing 'Imsil Hongsil chili peppers' directly produced by Imsil farmers.

This year, the plan is to purchase about 1,450 tons over two months from the 27th of last month to the 27th of next month, targeting 740 farms in the area.

The red chili purchase involves buying the harvested peppers with stems removed directly from the farms at the factory.

This process replaces the existing steps of washing, drying, packaging, and shipping after harvesting, providing great help to chili farmers who are struggling with labor shortages and aging.

Red chili peppers produced by farms in Imsil are eligible for purchase, and after completion, the county will pay an incentive of 200 KRW/kg to individual farms to promote purchases and enhance brand image.

Imsil Hongsil chili peppers have gained consumer trust by producing the highest quality peppers through the best natural environment for agricultural products to grow and strict processing procedures.

Imsil is located in a mid-mountain area at an altitude of 250-300 meters, with a large temperature difference between day and night and 188 hours of sunlight. The produced peppers are rich in nutrients, high in sugar content, and have thick skins, resulting in a large amount of high-quality chili powder.

The peppers have a high astaxanthin level (color and hue of the chili), giving kimchi a bright red and appetizing color, and have a moderate capsaicin content, providing a spicy taste that anyone can enjoy.
