Zelensky Likely to Appeal for Discussion of 'Peace Formula' at September UN General Assembly
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September and appeal for discussions on a "peace formula," Bloomberg reported on the 31st (local time).
According to the report, during his visit to New York, President Zelensky plans to attend not only the General Assembly schedule but also other sessions and meetings to condemn Russia's invasion and launch a full-scale diplomatic campaign advocating for peace in Ukraine.
So far, President Zelensky has proposed a peace formula consisting of 10 points, including the withdrawal of Russian troops, restoration of justice, nuclear safety, food security, and energy security, and has continuously demanded the holding of a summit to discuss this.
The Ukrainian government has also announced that President Zelensky's peace formula will be discussed at an international conference on ending the Ukraine war, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on August 5-6, ahead of the UN General Assembly.
Officials from 30 countries, including Ukraine, the United States, the European Union (EU), Brazil, India, Indonesia, Egypt, Mexico, and Chile, were invited to this conference, while Russia is expected to be absent.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg cited anonymous sources reporting that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not expected to attend the UN General Assembly in September.
