Ayoung FBC Unveils 'King Charles III Coronation 74 Years' Whiskey
Whisky Aged for 74 Years Since 1948 to Commemorate the Coronation of the British Monarch
Ayong FBC, the exclusive domestic distributor of Gordon & MacPhail, announced on the 27th that it will showcase a very limited quantity of the ‘King Charles III Coronation 74 Years’ produced to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III of the United Kingdom.
The King Charles III Coronation 74 Years, introduced this time, is a single malt whiskey made to celebrate the coronation of Charles III, who ascended the throne last May. It was aged for 74 years from 1948 at the Glen Grant Distillery in the Speyside region of northern Scotland, the main production area of single malt, and was bottled in only 281 bottles on December 15, 2022. The year 1948 is the birth year of Charles III, and the aging period of 74 years corresponds to the monarch’s age at the ceremony last May. The bottling date, December 15, is the same date as Charles III’s baptism, embedding meanings related to Charles III in all the numbers.
The King Charles III Coronation 74 Years offers a fragrant spice aroma that spreads actively as if awakening from a long deep sleep, with hints of slight raisins and berry notes that complement it. Flavors of red apple, orange, and milk chocolate can be tasted. Notes of bitter orange and milk chocolate harmonize together. There is a subtle scent of fresh peppermint leaves, along with the lingering taste of grapes and matured oak.
Gordon & MacPhail has operated its business for over 125 years with the simple mission of producing excellent quality single malt Scotch whisky. As a family business spanning four generations, it is currently Scotland’s largest bottling company, combining distilled spirits from over 100 Scottish distilleries with its own casks.
