Support for 129 Stores in Baeknyeon Market and Jangmiwongolmok Market
Seoul's Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced that it will carry out a project to improve the design of traditional market stalls in the second half of this year to strengthen the competitiveness of traditional markets and create a safe purchasing environment.
The Safe Design Support Project aims to make traditional market stalls easier to see, select, and understand, thereby improving consumer-centered market competitiveness.
Gangbuk-gu participated in the Seoul city public contest, and Baeknyeon Market and Jangmiwongolmok Market were selected, securing 374 million KRW in city funds to support approximately 129 stores in Baeknyeon Market and Jangmiwongolmok Market this year.
Through this project, the district plans to raise and redesign the generally low-to-the-floor stalls to match the consumer's eye level, allowing customers to comfortably choose products. Stalls will be developed and produced according to the characteristics of each product, and lighting and design elements will be placed throughout to enhance product visibility and appeal.
Additionally, by producing POP display boards for price labeling, origin labeling, and hygiene management, unclear information about product origin and prices will be clarified to strengthen consumer trust and reassurance.
