View original imageThe city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province published a white paper documenting the entire process of establishing Ilwol Arboretum, which opened last May.
On the 26th, Suwon City announced the publication of Suwon Citizens' Special Garden Ilwol Arboretum, consisting of six chapters: 'Ilwol Arboretum' covering the background, history, and details of the project; the footsteps of Ilwol Arboretum; Ilwol Arboretum embracing history; the uniqueness and beauty of Ilwol Arboretum; taking big steps together; and the achievements and future directions of Ilwol Arboretum.
The white paper also outlined the future path for Ilwol Arboretum, including providing lifecycle-based arboretum services, securing arboretum expertise through domestic and international cooperation, and serving as a forward base for spreading Suwon City's companion plant culture.

In his foreword, Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "I feel a special attachment to this arboretum because I personally planned it during my time as deputy mayor, hoping to establish natural facilities befitting a city of 1.2 million people." He added, "With the opening of Ilwol Arboretum and Yeongheung Arboretum, Suwon has become a city where you can reach an arboretum within 20 minutes."
