London Philharmonic Returns to Korea After 4 Years, Violinist Christian Tetzlaff Collaborates
October 5-7 Performances
Conducted by Edward Gardner, Featuring Beethoven and Brahms
The world-class orchestra, the London Philharmonic, is returning to Korean audiences after four years.
Concert planning company Vincero announced on the 21st that the London Philharmonic's Korea tour will be held on October 7th at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Prior to this, performances will also take place at Daegu Concert Hall on October 5th and Bucheon Art Center on the 6th.
Founded in 1932, the London Philharmonic is a representative British orchestra that offers not only traditional classical performances but also a variety of audience-friendly concerts. They recorded "Nessun Dorma," well known as a football anthem alongside Pavarotti, and also performed the soundtrack for the movie "The Lord of the Rings." This will be the tenth time the London Philharmonic has performed in Korea.
This concert will feature Edward Gardner, who has been leading the orchestra as principal conductor since the 2021?22 season. Gardner was recognized for his contributions to the British music scene and was awarded the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 2012. This is the first time the London Philharmonic will collaborate with Gardner in Korea.
German violinist Christian Tetzlaff will join as a soloist. He is a familiar figure to domestic audiences, having been named Musician of the Year by the Seoul Philharmonic in 2019. On this stage, he will present his unique musical narrative through Brahms' Violin Concerto, which he has recorded twice, in 2008 and 2022.
The orchestra will perform Beethoven's Egmont Overture, Brahms' Violin Concerto, and Brahms' Symphony No. 1 in this concert.

Vincero stated, "Tetzlaff, who is beloved for his sensitive music, and Gardner, a symbolic figure in the British music scene who continues the legacy of a classical powerhouse, have collaborated in major performances such as the Chicago Symphony, Bergen Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony, and London Philharmonic, and were musical partners on the 2011 BBC Proms stage. You can look forward to a stage of trust and musical excellence that they will present in this concert."
