POSCO Holdings Publishes 'Corporate Citizenship Report' Detailing ESG Performance in First Year as Holding Company
Chairman Choi Jung-woo "Enhancing Competitiveness of Low-Carbon Industrial Ecosystem"
POSCO Holdings announced on the 21st that it has published the '2022 Corporate Citizenship Report,' which contains ESG achievements from the first year after transitioning to a holding company system.
In the report, POSCO Holdings detailed its performance on key ESG issues in the order of 'Governance - Strategy - Risk Management - Indicators and Goals.'
POSCO Holdings standardized ESG data from itself and seven major subsidiaries (POSCO, POSCO International, POSCO E&C, POSCO Future M, POSCO DX, POSCO M-Tech, POSCO Steelion), and integrated and verified the data at the group level to present it clearly.
POSCO Holdings established a special page in this report to provide detailed descriptions of responses and improvement plans regarding major investor inquiries such as climate change response, supply chain management, and human rights.
The report also introduced a case study of the Pohang Steelworks’ recovery from Typhoon Hinnamnor, which successfully overcame physical risks analyzed and evaluated systematically at major domestic and overseas business sites due to climate change. Physical risks refer to risks that can directly cause damage to a company’s tangible assets due to climate change phenomena such as abnormal temperatures and droughts.
Through the ESG issue paper, the report also included accurate facts and response status regarding human rights and environmental issues at global business sites.
Choi Jeong-woo, Chairman of POSCO Group, stated in his greeting, "In the future, corporate competitiveness will be determined by the ecosystem competitiveness composed of stakeholders surrounding the company, such as partners, suppliers, customers, and local communities."
Chairman Choi added, "We will grow into a 100-year company that adds value to the world by enhancing the competitiveness of an eco-friendly low-carbon industrial ecosystem through eco-friendly-centered investments."
The 2022 Corporate Citizenship Report can be accessed on the official POSCO Holdings website.
