School Zone Speeding Prevention and Non-Face-to-Face Testimony Enabled... AI-Based Technology Development Initiated
Police Lab 2.0 New Project Kick-off Meeting
The National Police Agency held the 'Police Lab 2.0 2023 New Project Kick-off Meeting for Customized Research and Development Projects for Policing Sites' with the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 18th.
Police Lab 2.0 is a project jointly promoted by the National Police Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT, investing a total budget of 44.5 billion KRW over five years starting from 2021 to develop technologies that solve problems at policing sites.

This year, four new research projects were designated: △ Child Witness Customized Non-face-to-face Testimony Support System △ AI-based Footprint and Shoeprint Automatic Search System △ Intelligent Speed Control System for Child Protection Zones △ Multi-gathering Risk Prediction and Analysis System.
First, the 'Child Witness Customized Non-face-to-face Testimony Support System' is a technology based on AI that analyzes a child's testimony content and psychological and emotional state in real time to support personalized investigations. It is expected to reduce the psychological burden children experience in unfamiliar environments such as interrogation rooms and minimize secondary damage, thereby creating a testimony-friendly environment.
The development of the 'Intelligent Speed Control System for Child Protection Zones' to prevent school zone accidents that occurred in Daejeon and Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, in April is also underway. This system is expected to secure school zone safety by establishing an environment that can flexibly reduce vehicle speed according to real-time traffic conditions.
Through this meeting, ministry officials, researchers, and National Police Agency officers in each policing field shared project implementation plans and held detailed discussions on systems and cooperation measures to disseminate the developed technologies to policing sites in the future.
